Following successful construction defect litigation, this custom residence was reconstructed and renovated at a cost of $2.5M. The home is located on Hillside Drive in La Jolla, with a view of La Jolla Shores.

Doug Whitmore acted as lead architectural consultant on behalf of the Owner during litigation. Issues investigated included leaking and deteriorating wood-framed decks, excessive moisture in the crawl space and resulting mold in the residence, and settlement of site improvements.

The reconstruction project included removal and replacement of all decks and built-in planters, mold remediation, installation of an underfloor drainage system to catch and divert intruding water, and replacement of damaged site improvements. Renovations included new finishes, cabinetry, fixtures and furnishings throughout the home.
